I'm new here to the forums, and I recently purchased my first crested gecko after doing my homework and talking with some experienced keepers.
Overall, he/she is doing well. It knows where the food and water dishes are and is eating/drinking well. I've had it for a bit over a week now, and the gecko is still young (estimated about 4 months old). I've been hands-off for now to let it settle in, but in the meantime am getting it used to my presence and the feeding/cleaning/misting routine.
However, I noticed something strange about its eyelash a few days ago. At first I thought maybe it just got a piece of something stuck on it, but after getting a better look, it seems more like a piece of shed skin that got stuck. This was not there when I bought it, so I'm guessing it shed since being here.
Although it doesn't seem to be irritating the gecko, should I try to remove it? Since I'm not handling yet, and this young guy is a bit jumpy, what is the best method to do so? It's a tricky area being so close to his eye, and I don't want to hurt him. Will it come off on its own or with the next shed?
These pictures are not the best, but hopefully they help illustrate the problem.
Thanks in advance for your suggestions!
