Crooked Toe?

I was just letting my leo crawl around outside her vivarium and I noticed something possibly odd. Her outside toe on each of her front feet appears to be curled inward or crooked. It appears to lay like this 90% of the time I observed. It does not stick down parallel to the ground like her other toes and nails do. I have attached some photos below. It looks like those two nails are almost too long? She is kept on reptile carpet and has been her whole life (2 years). I haven't had and issues thus far, I am always carful lifting her off of the carpet, allowing her nails to get unstuck before lifting her. Either by her lifting them or I will gently lift her feet up. I'm not sure if this is anything to be concerned about but I just want to make sure.

Check to see if the nail is turning under because it's too long. If so, you could probably use cat claw clippers to clip the very tip. See if the nail will stay the correct way if you move it a bit.

I do think that is the case, it doesn't seem to be causing her any pain. The nail will stay the correct way if I place her toe correctly. Is it safe to trim their nails?

It is safe to trim them, but you have to be sure not to get too close to the vein in the nail. Just do the tip. If for some reason you hit the vein, there will be some bleeding, but not excessively and it will be OK.

Your Leo may turn around and whack you in the face due to pain, but you will barely feel it:biggrin: Perhaps placing some rocks in the enclosure to help file them down naturally is best. They use them to climb, but obviously in captivity climbing is very limited.

She’s currently got some wood in her enclosure to climb. Where can I get some safe rocks?
