Meet Pearl!

I went to my first reptile convention today with full intent to pick up a new gecko because I wanted a baby gecko who was healthy. And I found one! Meet Pearl! She’s 1-2 months old (the man who sold it couldn’t remember when it hatched). I made sure to look at the adults and they were nice and healthy so I felt comfortable buying it. He said that he thought it was a girl but he couldn’t tell for sure so I’m going off the assumption it’s a female until she’s old enough to sex properly.

I brought her home a little over four hours ago and she’s been exploring all over the place and I was pulling out tongs to see if my adults wanted a silk worm (I found 60 silkworms for 20$ so I’m excited) and she popped her head out of her cave at the tongs. So I used my bluntest tongs to pick up a mealworm and offered it to her and she gobbled it up. She also had a waxworm (after sniffing it and licking it to make sure it was food) and she’s already eaten seven insects.

She’s 7.5 grams, and seeing as she’s no more than two months old, I feel like that’s a good weight. She’s a RAPTOR morph too! She somehow wedged herself between the glass and her water dish/cool hide and I had to free her.

That seems great!
I got all three of my Leos as adults and one has just started laying eggs so I hope I will get to experience a juvenile gecko!

I stuck my hand in earlier since she was so calm and she just crawled up into it and just sat there for like. 15 minutes. I eventually had to nudge her off my hand. She’s already a great eater- I found a very small silkworm in the cup I bought and she downed it no problems. She’s awesome and I love her.
