Recently, my seven month old RAPTOR female has decided she doesn’t want to eat. This started about two weeks ago, but she was getting close to shedding so I wasn’t too worried.
However, she finished shedding Thursday and still is refusing to eat. She ate a lot of her shed and she is pooping (albeit very small poops), but she just doesn’t seem interested in food. I’ve checked the temperature in her cage and she has spots of about 88-95 on the warm side and high seventies on the cool side. The same temperatures she has always had. I’ve tried giving her undusted insects to see if she suddenly decided that the supplements tasted bad and nothing.
She’s refused waxworms, crickets, superworms, mealworms, and hornworms- Ive tried pretty much everything I can get my hands on and she just licks it and goes back into her hide.
The weirdest thing is however, that she isn’t dropping weight super fast. She’s dropped maybe half a gram in two weeks. It’s almost as if she just isn’t hungry. (Shes 55 grams). I’ve ruled out impaction (there’s no loose substrate and her belly isn’t swollen or anything), and there hasn’t been a new gecko introduced into the house since I bought her so I don’t think there’s the possibility of crypto. The only changes I can think of are an air purifier that went in my room for a little bit (and was removed after it started bugging my asthma), and a few new decorations. The weather has also been funky as of late, switching from 70s to 30s and back, but the temperature inside has remained mostly the same and all the other geckos are fine.
Any idea on how to get her to start eating? Again, she’s not losing weight at a worrying pace so I don’t really know what to think.
