Just today I noticed at the end of my Giant Day Gecko's tail its black at the tip, it is very, very small. But, i'm new to owning Giant Day Gecko's and am very worried. He's young, and very fast and I am trying to see what I can do at home for him instead of going to the vet because I am pretty worried about the transportation and I would not want anything to happen to him. If there is nothing I can do then he will go to be checked out. But, my questions are, why would this be happening? What will happen? and What can I do?

Welcome to Geckos Unlimited!

A wee bit of old shed stuck to the tip of the tail, restricted circulation, and caused the tip to become necrotic and die. That's probably why the tip is black.

Please share pictures of your gecko and of his home, his age, and the dimensions of his enclosure. What substrate do you use? How often do you thoroughly mist his enclosure?
