Premade Gel Diet for insectavores?

Has anyone ever heard of the this?

We had someone bring their gecko to the vet today that has been eating this while recovering from a nasty crypto infection. the owner claims that the gecko hasn't wanted to touch anything except this and waxworms. But the little guy is putting on weight and looking like it might survive the crypto - the vet has never seen it before either.

Hikari is top notch food for koi and goldfish, I don't know about this though.

I've not heard of Hikari Gel either.

From what little I can find on it - it is made of ground mealworms and silk worm pupa with various binders such as soy meal, seaweed, and contains both calcium and d3 + other vitamins and preservatives.

The company claims that they have bred and raised geckos successfully in a lab setting on it without additional supplementation, but with so little info, I personally wouldn't trust it as a replacement for whole bugs.
