Tokay gecko

She live in an exo terra tall terrarium 18x18 by in thing 24 inches. I most her tank as needed feed her crickets. Her tank is 24-25 degrees celcius. And I believe one of the reasons why she is becoming skinny is because since she injured her jaw she has trouble hunting so I need to assist her by pushing the item of prey in her mouth because she can keep a grip on it. But she is starting to adapt to her jaw being like it is so eventually she will be able to hunt on her own. And I just redid her terrarium but I'm still going to get more plants and possibly a hide that will stay at the top.

Before I feed the crickets to her 12 hours in advance I feed them carrots and their normal cricket food the the next day I feed them to her with her calcium and her calcium with D3. But only give the D3 2-3 times a week.

24-25°C is not enough for tokays unless yours has a basking spot. They need temps around 28-32°C during the day and 22-25°C at night ;)

What "normal" cricket diet do you feed the crickets?

This is what gutloading means:

Gutloading the Feeders versus Feeding the Feeders 24/7
The term gutloading causes some confusion. Feed your feeders a nutritious regular diet all the time to build strong feeder bodies. Then only feed a special GUTLOAD product to the crickets, for example, 1-2 days prior to feeding the crickets to your geckos. T-REX Calcium Plus Cricket Food is a good gutload food. Top off the crickets by lightly dusting with a multivitamin containing D3/vitamin A acetate and phosphorus-free calcium with D3 no more than 2x weekly.

Generally 2-3x per week light dusting with a phosphorus-free calcium with D3 is all the calcium that is necessary. You might want to add a mulitivitamin with vitamin A acetate. Best not to dust with plain calcium on the other days.

Captured directly from Hilde's post #134, 27 Feb 2013, on "spoiled by crickets" thread in the crestie forum:
"If you feed the insects a decent diet full time, not just a day before feeding them off, you really improve the nutrients they'll provide - build a better body, not just fill the relatively short intestinal tract."

If you have a national pet store chain near by, most of them carry crickets.

If you have the internet you can have crickets or anything for that matter delivered to your home.

Yeah, I get 20,000 crickets delivered each week. More if I'm short on roaches. They feed for 3 to 4 days and then heavy-up on the gut load for another 30 hours. And then I spend several hours delivering the 'chow' to "The Hoard".

I's amazing what FedEx will deliver!

Not sure what options your supplier has for shipping but air cargo is pretty cheap on orders of that size. I've found myself knowing I'll be short and ordered from a now defunct company out of Louisiana that did the air cargo deal. My per thousand cost was in the realm of $13 and some change.

OK i haven't been on for a little while but i brought her to a vet and it turns out she might have been caught from the wild and has parasites so i asked if their was anything we could do to save her but he told me that she was to sick and it would most likely not save her so basically all i can do is make the next few weeks as comfortable as possible fro her.
