UTH for ten gallon?

Okay, so my warm hide is only registering in low 80's and can go up to low 90's with my overhead zilla mini red light on. I have been turning that off at night. I have my tank on the end of my Kitchen table up against the wall. We do open the sliding glass door in here to let my dog in and out so can be a little bit drafty at times. I don't really have a lot of money right now, especially right here at Christmas time. So if I am looking to replace the uth that only covers right below the warm hide with a little bigger one, how big for a ten gallon and I can't get a thermostat at this time so will it get too hot?

Hi Ibanta ~

1. Relocate the enclosure away from drafts. :)

2. Keep the bulb and the UTH on during the day to get 88-93*F.

3. No lower than ~68 F is OK for nightime.

4. Recommend an UTH 1/3 the length of a 10 gallon and as close to the width as possible. I'd go 1/2 the length of the enclosure IF you had a bigger tank. In a 10 gallon, there is considerably less wiggle room.

5. Lutron rheostats/dimmers are good quality. With an accurate digital thermometer you can tweak the overhead bulb.
