Large mass on Leo's side - Gecko with sunken in skull

My new rescue girl, Freckles, has this red bump that pops out of her side. It's squishy, not firm, and will go into her body when touched. It sort of reminds me of a hernia with the way it protrudes and retreats, but hernias are usually more firm. It sort of feels like their liquid in it.
She's also very shaky/wobbly. Her head will shake when she walks, and her legs shake when she walks. She feeds fine, is super friendly, I just don't know what that mass is. Any ideas??

The next gecko is my rescue male, Newt. I'm not sure how his skull came to be the way it is. I'm not sure if he's born that way or if it happened suddenly. (I got him this way).
I'm terrified of him bumping his head and injuring his brain. There's no skull to protect it, and he absolutely hates his head being touched. Almost like he knows he has it. Is there any causes for this? Is there anything I can do to protect his brain??

The mass that you can push back in is probably a hernia. My vet said that as long as it can be pushed in, it's probably fine. I had a gecko with a hernia and the vet said it was probably best not to operate because the risks of surgery were greater. She lived for several years and then I just found her dead one day. I have no idea what happened to the male. If he's truly missing part of his skull I would imagine he was hatched that way. Just be careful and don't drop him!

Thank you for getting back to me! Do you think the hernia could be from breeding? She's a tiny girl and came from a small breeder. Maybe pushing too hard?
And I just worry with the male bumping his head and creating a hemorage in his brain. I probably worry too much haha.

I'm not a vet but I would guess that there was some kind of initial structural weakness.
