Issues with feeding

Hello,

after being cared of by my father my gecko doesn't want to eat. He didn't eat at all yesterday and today just 4 roaches. My father told me, that he bit the tweezers couple of times. Is it possible that he is afraid to eat because he knows it will hurt him when he does? :( And what can I do?

Maybe your leo was not hungry yesterday. It's good to hear that he ate today. :D I would not worry.

Everyone does things differently. That's good.

I use clear glass feeding bowls for all my geckos. I primarily do that to keep the insects out of the substrate. That way I can still monitor feeding habits. Even though bowl feeding is not as natural as hunting, it allows my geckos greater independence than tong feeding.

Check out this thread. Logan is about your age and soon will be getting a leo.

Babies, as they age, eat less and less. How old is he?
About 5 months.

I am a bit worried. He usually eats a lot more. :( Especially after the day he didn't eat at all.

I tried to use it, but red runners always get out.

How do you know how old I am? :D

Several days not eating is not a big deal even for a 5 mo leo. It is only a problem if your leo stops eating for a longer time. You mention he ate 4 roaches the very next day.

Did the bowl you tried have sloping sides or straight up and down sides? I've never had red runners.

Your age is only a guess. I thought you might like to touch bases with a young person in the USA who's about to get his first leo. That's all.

Alright, I won't force him to eat then. The bowl had sloping sides.. regular glass bowl I guess. These roaches are so fast they can get out. They can't climb the smooth surface, but they move there legs so fast they just can make it out.
I understand, I though you might have found it on my profile somewhere. Like my country. I wasn't sure what I filled :D

I'm glad you understand. :D

I don't know what size Turkestan (red runner) roaches your leo eats.

These bowls have straight sides. They might available in Europe at a kitchen store or online. In the USA they come in 4-packs.
