Odd behavior in Day Gecko

Hi, not sure if this is how to post....newbie here....but here goes. I live in Hawaii and we have a LOT of geckos, several varieties, but the Madagascar Gold Dust Day Geckos (I call them geicos) everywhere! They pretty much have the run of my house which is fine by me because they are pretty and fun to watch. But occasionally I'll see one pulling something white from its back end. I can't get close enough to make out what it is. At first I thought it was pulling an egg out, but then it ate whatever it was. What am I seeing?

It's possible it's actually pulling off shed from its back end and that's what you see it eating. Or else it has some kind of twisted desire for its own urates!

If it was pulling off she'd, would there be any other evidence of shedding? The animals that do this look pretty green with no loose skin showing....but I know next to nothing about these critters. Whatever they're pulling on is as white as an egg and it always comes from under the tail close to the body. I have more questions, but I'll post them separately. Thanks for your reply. It's 10:45 pm here in Hawaii and one of my little buddies is licking on a slice of apple on my desk. I guess they aren't all "day" geckos!
Aloha!
