ETA: they loaded out of order, lol. the last pic is the first gecko.
the first one (pic1), I flipped under a small rotting board out in the desert. the second one (pic 2-3), I flipped under a piece of old roofing tar paper on the back of my folks' property. he was smaller than the first, and...
It will be held this year on September 12th. Doug Taylor has once again agreed to be our mostly-gracious host; his place is a little ways north of Seattle proper. As in prior years, we’ll have a potluck-style dinner. Please bring a food or beverage of your choice, and expect fun shenanigans and...
it all depends on appearance. I've seen adults from $30 up to several hundred.
eh, IMO live plants are easier. misting every day or every other day is enough to water them, with maybe dumped water in once every couple of weeks in the winter when you run the heat and the air is drier. the cork...
this is a great source of information. she also has several youtube videos of candling during incubation.
I'd be inclined to remove them for incubation. moisture can vary pretty wildly in a viv and you don't want to drown or dessicate them in the substrate.
also, it's a myth that breeder girls...
pothos is great for cover. I've planted senseveria several times and it seems to need to be replaced a few times a year as the roots don't really establish well for me. jade is the same. ficus are great if you have a nice tall viv. for sturdiness, I drape the pothos through and around sticks...
here is a viv I set up recently for a gecko that has very similar care requirements (a juvie B boivini ~6" long). the pothos will fill in more over time, and will eventually need to be cut back.
you don't have to use bamboo or the cork bark, although I like the way it looks and watch for sales...
ha! the longer I'm in this the more I'm convinced that it's better to buy juveniles of known and sex and coloration if you're trying for certain offspring. it's fun to watch them change, but it's definitely rolling the dice.
here's mom (Xochitl), dad (Quizno), and the single baby out of 8 that...
here's a gratuitous pic of my girl laying eggs, but it's also the best substrate pic I have, as an example. I spot-clean the moss and swap it out entirely if there's any suggestion of odor, but as I also have isopods in there it generally doesn't have to be changed entirely more than about twice...
When posting questions here please remember that if you fear that your gecko is sick, the best step to take is to get them to a vet who can visually and physically examine and diagnose your problem(s).
There is a wide variety of experience level of members on a forum like this and not all of...
so this little girl is around a year and a half old. she was born to a free-range pair of tokays in my friend's turtle room in early 2012. I've had her since she was pretty tiny, and she's been awesome to keep.
she's named Erzebet, after the Blood Countess of Bathory, because...well, she has...
I presume this fella's a feral gecko, and didn't escape to eat one of the other pets...
I saw a photo of a spider eating a gecko and wondered if it were photoshopped, so I did a google-image search for "spider eating gecko". I found some really awesome pictures.
this is one of the coolest:
I...
I would think food-grade would be fine.
about 4 1/2 years ago I built an epic cage for a pair of my pythons. I used clear cedar because I love the look, and I sealed the daylights out of it with several coats of water-based polyurethane so there wouldn't be any off-gassing, and for water...
if it were my gecko, I'd leave it alone. just make sure he's getting proper nutrition. it's MBD, yeah, but it's not really that bad in terms of his spine, from your photos? this is the gecko I had. his spine warpage was pretty severe, and he had a significant limp. if yours walks all right...
hey guys - I mentioned this in another thread and thought I'd post the video up here.
Justin Julander went field-herping in Oz a few years ago and took some incredible videos. my favorite is this one of GTPs (from ~1 min to ~3:30 there's a GTP climbing a huge tree).
his youtube channel also...
hey guys!
