What Do you Guys Do When Your Away with Humidity?

Well, I plan to eventually breed cresties, and sometimes we are out for a weekend or a week. What do you guys do to keep humidity up? I was wondering because even though we aren't going anywhere soon, we will at the end of the year. Thanks.

LOL...I don't go on trips because I don't trust anyone not to kill my geckos while I'm away. But you may have a friend you can have come over and feed and mist for you. Also a humidifier on a timer will work for a day or two before it needs to be refilled.

For a weekend I just leave them alone. For a week I get someone to come in 1-2 times and mist. If possible, I get someone (I have 2 friends who are capable and can do this) to come and feed or at least to top off everyone's water.

I left my geckos and my iguana with my mother while i left on a one week trip.
They survived, but i am sorry i can not help with the humidity. :[

most my stuff is on timers. the fogger and the mister both have timers built in. so i simply set these. the lights also have timers. if i go away for more than a week i have someone feed and check on them.

Crested geckos can do fine without misting for a week so long as you have a good moisture holding substrate. Its not feeding them for a week that is the problem

I've got feeding covered. I have people come in to do that. The problem is I don't want these people to have to mist a half dozen cages because it could end up that they don't mist enough, they mist my desert tanks instead, or something else.

Why dont you just put a note. Mist x amount of times on this cage, and so on and so forth.

I use peat as a substrate and it holds humidity, so misting is done as needed.

The most imporant thing to do is make sure the person who is watching things is competent, and is going to do things they way you would, or just put em on autopilot and hands off. dont need huge gobs of babyfood, or feet stuck with babyfood.

I agree, Make sure you have someone you can trust.

I currently have a crested, and there have been a few times I've have to leave for a week. My roomate want's nothing to do with my "weird pets", he won't even refill the water.

So I make sure I trade out his normal water dish for a slightly larger one, and I make sure the substrate is fairly saturated. Also, if your cage has a screen top, try covering 1/4 - 1/3 of the lid with some cardboard of something. But not to much as to block the ventalation...this can help keep a little more of the humidity inside.
my crested refuses to eat baby food, so I make sure he gets some extra crickets a couple days before I leave.
Make sure everything runs on a timer and everything should be fine.

This way, I can leave for a week and not have to worry about anything...except my cats figuring out the lock :(

People can be very weird about reptiles. I hate it. Ya, my roomate will pretend he's all big and though, untill I bring out a little HARMLESS gecko, then he gets all uncomfortable...I don't understand why people are scared of these things.
I feel that every lizard, and snake has their our unique personality, like cats and dogs. He brought up that they're cold blooded,so I brought up the fact that he's cold hearted...he shut up and walked away...lol

LOL, I like that one. Most the time people ask me why I have so many cool blooded pets? I then ask them why they have so many cold blooded friends? I mean, I'm fine with getting bit but drama w/ humans is much more dangerous if you ask me. ;-)

I second all that :) .

Yeah well see I could but I don't pay these people, it is more of just a favor, and to mist all that just is too much for them to have to do.
