Snow?

Yesterday we bought not only a new Beardie, but this new big boy, who i believe is a snow. :] He still has some yellow(really light cream color) on him, but his head, front legs, and tail are white. I believe he is about a year old. Someone already wants to breed their females with him, so I'll be sure to post those images too! But anyways, do you you think he is a snow? Or just a mix?

Based on some of the adult Mack snows I've been seeing I think you either have to have seen the gecko as a hatchling (black and white with no yellow) or have been told that it's a snow by a reliable breeder in order to know for sure.

Just like Aliza said, it's virtually impossible to tell whether or not an adult is truly a Mack Snow without knowing the genetics behind the gecko, seeing the gecko as a hatchling, or test breeding and proving it out.

I have an adult Mack Snow (is for certain a Mack Snow) that probably has more yellow on it than that one. ;-)

Nice gecko regardless of what he is!

beautiful leo! i love the reduced patern on the tail where the spots form perfect bands.
like aliza said you would probably a confermed yes from the breeder to say for sure 100%. if its not a mack its defiently not a ''normal'' leo. id say its high white. i would love to cross that with my tremper amel.

do you know who the breeder was?

No i do not, i received him from a pet store (i don't really know his story...I think some one couldn't take care of him anymore so they bought him in).
But i bought him for $67.50, and they said he was a mack snow. But i just wanted some other peoples opinions.

I also read some where that a mack snow only has one snow gene, and will have a yellow "frosting" so we'll just have to see!

And as for breeding, I'd love to breed him :].

He is definatly not a snow. Too much yellow.

"MACK SNOW
The Mack snow is a co-dominant morph that was first released in 2004. The gecko on the right is a one-copy snow, meaning it is only carrying one copy of the snow gene. One copy snows have a little yellow frosting (hard to see on this guy), but they are considerably faded from their normal coloration." -Geckos Ect.

Leopard Gecko Morphs

i guess i'd have to know his genetics.

A lot of Mack Snows develop some yellow coloration by the time they are mature. This is my breeder confirmed and proven Mack Snow male ;):

As you can see, the amount of yellow is no indication as to whether or not an adult is a Mack Snow.

he is nice do.
if you are not 100% sure, just breed him as an normal, or with another snow, just to try.
or you just will be dissapointed.
