Hi all
I have two females that are both 1 year old and only 30grams, and about 4 inches long. They are so small compared to their sisters that are around 70-75 grams. Is this unusual? They are very active, eat really well, and poop great. I wonder if they will ever catch up with the others. Also, my main concern is one of the small females is fertile right now. Even though I would never ever breed her due to her size and age I worry that if she had infertile eggs (I read that they are like chickens, no rooster needed) would she be in trouble with passing them? Any info would help. Thanks in Advance.

There have been a number of posts on another forum about "dwarf" leopard geckos that are very small and light as adults. They often seem to be proportioned slightly differently as well. The various people who have them have also decided to keep them as pets and not breed. It's interesting that all the "dwarf" leopard geckos I've ever hear of are female. I really don't think leos that haven't been bred lay infertile eggs that often.

I wouldn't worry if they are eating right. I had one that I had adopted from craigslist that was only 20 grams and he was "supposedly" 2 years old. (The lady says she's had him for 2 years, since he was a baby) I personally think she just didn't feed him enough as he was not skinny to the point of illness, just not as big as he should have been for a 2 year old. He's now a good 40 grams and still growing. Anyway, if he's eating then I wouldn't worry if their tail is nice and fat (and proportionate compared to a bigger leo)

Hi,

I have a very small adult female (4 years old) myself; she weights 35 grams, but is eating like a horse and is perfectly healthy!! She has never laid a clutch off eggs in here life, while the male is constantly kept with my females. All the other females have laid eggs several times. So I guess nature deals with this issue in it's own way..
Regards,

Thank you all so much for your knowledge. She eats well every night...2 big silks, about 4 crickets, a few mealies and my fingers if she gets the chance. She seems healthy in every aspect. Out of my 5 females she is the only one ovulating right now and of course I would never breed her. Damn I love these guys so much!!!

Your post made me think, one of my leos is alot lighter than the others although they're around the same age. I thought maybe it was because she was a blizzard and in-breeding had stunted her growth? Is this possible?
