Well, I figured it was about time I posted some pictures of my little scaly monsters. ;) Some of you may recognize them from GeckoForums (my handle is Riyo on there)

First up is Solis, my SHTCTB female. She's 75g right now, a little under a year old, and 9.5 inches long:

This is Dagda, my adopted Mack Snow. He has a tail deformity (kinked badly at the base) but he sure is sweet. He's 76g, approx. 2 years old and roughly 8 inches long (his tail is also kind of short) :

This is Loki, my other adopted Mack Snow. He has a tail kink at the end of his tail but other than that he's fine. He's 74g, 10 months old, and 9 inches long. :

Odin is my youngest. He's a Tremper Patternless Albino, approximately 3 - 4 months old. He weighs 30 grams and is 7 inches long.

Not a leopard gecko, but this is Selena, my crested gecko. She's 40g without her tail and approx. 1 year old. She's such a sweet heart :) :

They're legal here in most areas of the United States. I know they aren't legal in Florida due to the climate but that's one of the only places I know in the US that outlaws them. There may be others, I just don't know.

It's not illegal in Florida as far as I know. My neighbor sold and raised a huge colony for his pet store. I lived there until two months ago, now I'm in California.

I was born and raised in the same town and house, surrounded by reptile enthusiasts. Every show I went to there sold them.

If they ARE illegal, the state is doing a crappy job at controlling it.

As for the weather: There's roaches everywhere in FL. You can't buy a house and live in it not to see one roach a day. My cousins and I when we were little would go outside and hunt roaches to feed to the fish in the river. Haha. Gotta love old fashion southern towns. <3 aww poo... now I miss my home. =[[

There are a couple of species of roach that are legal in Florida and I found out that for most species you must own a permit to own and breed them. B. Dubia are one specie that are illegal except with a permit. Perhaps the roaches being sold at the show were a legal species.

They were B. Dubia. That's what my neighbor bred and sold.

Like I said, the police are probably not controlling it. The police, at least in my area, are horrible with everything.

If you walk into a 7-11, they'll sell you cigs and not ID you. I used to buy them all the time when I was 13 for my dad.

Not sure if it's everywhere in FL, but I know in my town. Could just be they don't care about my 4 square mile pop. 900 town in the middle of a dry county. We didn't even have local police, we had the Altamonte City police come by and run through our town every now and then. Lol. The ASCPA was horrible too. Longwood, my town, didn't even have a mayor.

I could see why they'd be illegal. Florida is a roach breeding ground! When I kept them for my fish, I would just leave the jar open, and throw some apples in it. They'd live just fine. No humidity controls or temp controls! Stupid roaches. Blehh. I'm glad I don't live there anymore.
