Tail got hurt

First off: GiGi has no nails from her shedding issue.

She was on my shoulder, I was in the kitchen, turned, and GiGi fell off my shoulder and landed on the tile.

She's pretty tough. But she's never fallen onto tile this high up, given I'm only 5'3, but still.

She stood still on the floor, and about an inch of her tail twitched uncontrollably. Moved back and forth really fast for a good fifteen minutes.

Now she has this white line where the twitching started, like the 1 inch line into her tail. And after that line, her tail is really really pale pink (normally rosy pink) to the tip of her tail.

It's not completely bent, normally it's straight, but it has this angle to it that it never did before.

Her body is fine, we've checked her over, moved her legs, touched her belly, AND her tail. Not irritated by any of it at all. She's still silly GiGi. But her tail is making me worry.

Do you think she bruised it? or it will fall off? She's never injured her tail before...

I think that there may be a possibility that that part of her tail may drop, especially since it was twitching like that and it looks strange now... Only time will tell. If it starts looking infected or necrotic make sure you take her to the vet. I'm glad she's okay other than that.

I haven't touched her since last night, and I just touched her. She squealed and bit me. GiGi doesn't bite.. and it's only when I touch the side of her tail that's caved in. =[

It's gotten a little more dark purple than in the pictures. =[[

That would be my opinion too. She's probably going to drop that part of her tail. I've heard of cases where it didn't drop until the next shed.

Try to put your leopard gecko on a tupperware or anything like that with hot water, not much water and not much hot. Try to put her tail no the water for 15/20 minuts. After this try to put off the shed with the hand. If that can't go out you need to go to a vet or your gecko stays without tail.

It's not stuck on shed. She has problems shedding, and I do her tail, and feet myself. That was four days ago.

I've already soaked her in water, did it while I was posting the thread. She loved the water, doesn't fight it at all. So it must be helping. I do it every few hours or so, mostly twice a day.

I've also been putting neosporin on her tail. Advised by someone I know who owns many geckos, and by my vet. Was told if I got to it before it turned deep purple and hard, there was a chance to save her tail.

It's the end of... day two, and her tail is a little lighter than it was last night. It's also still soft. She lets me touch it now, to put the neosporin on it with my finger. It should be black by the end of 48 hours- I was told- if it's a goner.

sooo I'm hoping for the best. It's not twitching, it's not hard, it's not hurting her as much, and she's acting like her old self.

-fingers crossed-

Why do you soak her in water so often? To keep the blood circulate better?

Yeah I called Vet Boyer asap. He's always being called. Lol. The vet said to do it. It's working great! Her tail is almost completely back to normal, her tail was a little hard last night, now it's soft and fleshy again. The part that looked like it was indented is back to normal.

He said to give her chicken baby food and banana baby food, soak her in warm water twice a day, don't handle her unless it's food/treatment, extra calcium and vitamins, neosporin on the tail twice a day after her 'baths' and give her pedialite water for the next week.

I'm so happy she's looking great!! Her tail is bent, but a bent tail is fine with me. He said it'd heal funny, but she has a 90% chance of it not falling off since it was taken care of within 12 hours of the accident.

Who would of thought you could save a tail from dropping. Lol. The vet said he has a few leos of his own, and came up with this treatment. Haha. That's a dedicated herp vet if you ask me. He even bought the baby food and pedialite and brought it to my apartment and didn't charge me. He just wants to see GiGi when she's all healed so he can close the case in her files (plus I want to know how much she weighs Lol. i don't have a scale of my own).

OMG I was freaking out, but now that I've read the whole thread (to this point), I am so relieved to hear Gigi will be fine! And what a great vet! Making house calls for a leo! That's awesome. :)

He's basically my neighbor. I just moved to this complex two months ago too. I found him online. He's the only herp vet within 50 miles (and his office is a 5 minute walk from here), and he lives three complex's down from me. So he's always running into me at the post office or grocery store. Lol. Always asking about his "favorite explorer Miss Giovanna Marie" haha. I got lucky. =]

I did another treatment not too long ago, I'm about to feed her. She's to the point that she doesn't care. I don't force feed her the food. I push the syringe up against her nose and she opens her mouth and eats it. Lol. So she knows it's making her better.

Lol. I got her out. She knew it was food time. She'll fight me until I get her on my knee. she doesn't really 'fight' me. She just hides hoping I'll forget she needs her vitamins and food.

Once I get her on my leg, she sits there. And I tap her nose, then she eats it no problem. Lol. She's a good girl. She's only bitten me I believe four times. And each time was because a stranger was reaching for her when I had her and she bit me to get my attention that she was uncomfortable. She hates strangers. If she's on the floor and the door opens with one of my sister in law's friends, she runs to either me or Nick, whoever's closest.
