Passion flower

We have searched the forums and the internet, but just couldn't find any info on it, so we just have to ask....
Does anyone knows if it's save to use Passion flowers in a Uroplatus viv?
We have made 2 show viv's in our livingroom with real plants in it. Since we always kill bromelia's we wanted to try something different. We both like passion flowers and they are great to color the viv's up, if they are non toxic......

I have never heard of the flower, but it should not hurt them I am guessing. They will not ingest parts of the flower like a bearded dragon would and they are not known as enjoying nectar so I do not see what it would hurt. It will be up to you. The only way the geckos could be exposed to the flower is when a cricket decides to munch on the flower then the gecko eats the cricket.
I know orchids are safe for most geckos and they are very appealing also so that is another idea.

Whatever you decide will hopefully not harm anything

Someone mentions they saw geckos crawling on them in the wild.

Also, in the chameleon world, we have many "safe-plant" lists. Often times people refer to Mike's (FLChams) list, Safe Plants List for Chameleons . Not sure if it's applicable or not in the gecko world, but chameleons actually eat the plants and flowers at times, hence the need for these lists, and if it says it safe to be eaten etc, I can't imagine why it wouldn't be safe to simple crawl on.

I currently have a passion vine (Passiflora foetida) that has been growing in one of my vivs for nearly 6 months. The enclosure houses 2 P. bicolor and one gold dust day gecko. I have yet to observe any negative effects resulting from contact with the plant. Considering that frogs are very sensitive to environmental toxins, I have come to the conclusion that this plant can be used without concern. I must add that while very attractive, it grows quite rapidly and you may find yourself pruning it more frequently than you would like.

The plants can be toxic if eaten so don't use them for plant eaters. Other than that, the only problem might be larger geckos breaking and stomping the vines while landing on them.

We have put passion flower in our viv's a few weeks ago.....
But they seem to be dying.... We don't know what we do wrong... Well the trachycephalus are trying to walk on it and they are to heavy, so that might be the problem. But the henkeli isn't walking on it, and the passion flower in his vis is also dying...
Any idea what we should do?

I took a cutting from an existing plant I have outside, and simply stuck the cut end of it 2 inches into the substrate and practically neglected it. A week or 2 later. it began to take off. Now I must prune it every 2-3 weeks. Most recently, I removed nearly 6 feet of overgrowth. What lighting are you using? How wet is your substrate, and what sort are you using?

Everything I can find on it, says that passion flowers are used in homeopathic therapy to treat insomnia. So unless you see your crickets sleeping, I would say you would be pretty safe. You should ask a green house in your area.

My guess with the passion flower is your keeping it to wet. The ones I have out side, are very drought tolerant.

H.. i guess we are keeping it to wet... We use normal garden soil but water it very often.
They are close to a window, so they get sunlight.
