i've just gone bought my new setup and need help with the heater mat i was wondering as the mat doesn't reach from the front to the back of the viv do i put it to the side of the tank to the middle or put it in one corner. also i was told the thermostat sensor should be placed in the middle of the background. any help with these would be extremely apprecciated.

Put the mat on one side of the tank, on the outside bottom. You can kind of center it equidistant from the back, front and side. The temperature sensor needs to be on the ground on the heat mat so you can measure the ground temperature on the hot side. Please feel free to ask more if this isn't clear.
