Hi, so Im sure you gus have seen this question a lot but ive been looking around and cant seem to find much information on Uroplatus fimbriatus. Is there any website with a good care sheet and any reccommendatons on where I can find some babies?

Few people, if any, seem to specialize with the species. That means both care information and captive bred individuals are scant. I believe most info about the species is transferred by word of mouth. Finding availability is going to be mostly limited to checking out classified ads, here and elsewhere.

You might have some luck determining proper care of species such as this by finding a zoological institution with experience successfully keeping the species.

Some years ago I talked at length with a guy named Scott Pfaff at the Riverbanks zoo and he had very good success breeding them. I believe he is also a published author of some aspect of how UV affects them....

Well, I just put a light on my animals about a month ago...

This is only because someone gave me two stips...

I Have bred two different pairs of Henkels this year and produced a lot of fertile eggs without the UV...

Actually, they received very little indirect fluorecent light...

I do supplement them with repcal very often and directly give it to the female via eye dropper mixed in with water...

Direct UV might bring out more colors...but I have not found it necessary with the Henkels...

Scott Pfaff is a good guy. I've actually done a bit of field herping with him, Riverbanks Zoo is a short distance from school for me. I've talked a bit with him about Uroplatus, and he's actually told me it's one of the keepers at the zoo that is the Uroplatus fanatic.

Still, you could try getting in touch with him. I'm not sure if he has actually published anything about UV exposure, but I do know that the Riverbanks Zoo is one of the institutions with the largest Uroplatus collections (I believe it's between Riverbanks and Henry Doorly Zoo) in the US. It's likely a great point to try to start getting reliable keeping information, but keep in mind that an institution like that is going to have much more in terms of resources than you'll likely be able to provide your animals. Take the best point of the care tips you get from them and make good use of them.
