Right calcium?

oh, I have been dusting every feeding, will it hurt him?

I dont keep any calicum in the cage. He has had no issues?

I never did that much before I started thinking about breeding. Calcium helps grow strong bones and a lack of calcium can cause disease.

No, dusting the crickets is not enough; leopard and a number of other geckos will lap at calcium dust if they need more calcium in their diet.

As for the D3 (Cholecalciferol) content in most reptile products the level is considered by most keepers to be too high for direct feeding.

While not everyone may agree with me, I believe 200IU/kg of vitamin D3 is all that is needed in the entire diet, which works out to be a very small portion of any meal when you consider the total weight of a few crickets.

I don't exactly agree with every statement above regarding what type of calcium powder to use but will concede that leopard geckos are pretty easy to keep and will tolerate vast differences in care methods. Pure calcium carbonate in a small dish is a perfectly safe way to go. I would go with any brand that uses Precipitated Calcium Carbonate (it is for the most part a much finer grade of calcium carbonate that is formed a bit differently than some other types).

AGAIN here I will repeat myself.
Buy:
Calcium with D3
Calcium without D3
Multivitamins

Put a bowl of calcium WITHOUT D3 in the tank 24/7
Dust once a week with Calcium+D3
Dust once a week with a multivitamin.

Get it? It's not that hard. And I've said this numerous times. Shall I quote each of my posts?? Sorry to be rude, but jeez.

I'm sorry for being rude. I posted this right after I posted in the tubs thread. I was still a little agitated when I replied to you.

Make sure you clean out the calcium in the tank once a week.

Not sure. Instincts I suppose. What makes girls crave food? I don't know why I crave hot wings right now, but I'm about to go seek and eat some. I suppose the same goes for leos. When your body's low on salt, you crave salt. If it's low on calcium, you crave icecream, milk, yogurt, etc.

Where can I get calcium to put in my geckos tank? Is it like a block of calcium? Sorry if this is answered somewhere else, I haven't seen it. I also dont dust my crickets so I'm thinking that maybe I shoudl get calcium for my tank.

The calcium is in powder. Some are really fine. Some are less. If you dont dust your crickets ,You should start doing it. You gecko will be more healthy because he will have a better diet. I know a site that sells calcium with and without d3 and also vitamins. I really Like Rep-cal calcium and Herpitive ( vitamins ). Im pretty sure they ship to Usa.
