I got a new gecko about a week ago, and she has been hiding on the warm side of her tank all the time, or at least whenever I see her. She eats and poops, but I never know what she is eating or when she is eating. I put some white drawer liner around 3 sides, following the advice of the previous owner. I will post up some pics ASAP. This is the guys website (Western Gecko) and check out facilities. Should I imitate this setup?

I think a week is a little short to be expecting much. All animals are different and it might take awhile for them to get used to their surroundings. If eating and pooping are happening you should be happy. Many animals won't eat after moving into a new enclosure.

If you are worried about the amount that is being eaten then I would bowl feed just so you can monitor the intake. With crickets you can pinch off the back legs to make it harder for them to escape. The best bowls will have a smooth surface to make escape harder.

If she's still very young, it's not unusual for young geckos to hide a lot. It's a way to make sure that in nature they will survive to become old geckos.
