My leo hates dusted crickets! She simply pays no attention to them. I feed my crickets flukers hi-calcium feed and i mix some vitamin powder in it, plus i keep a small bottlecap of vitamin dust in her viv. Is it okay if i dont feed her dusted crickets? I need to now!

Well, if you're gut loading your crickets with the calcium, I would say that's a good start. Will she eat the calcium on other insects? Maybe they're getting dusted to heavily?

Leave a bowl of caclium without D3 in it in the tank 24/7.

I have one who hates all forms of dusted insects. He gets 2 sprays of liquid vitamins in his water every other day, and 2 sprays of calcium liquid on the other days. I keep a dish of calcium without d3 in his tank at all times, and I offer dusted feeders every few days. Though, he usually refuses them.

I'm having the same problem right now. My girl will spit out the dusted ones. A few people told me that there's something called "Calcium Plus" that has a flavor to it...i'm going to try it and see if it works. The female who refuses the dusted crickets is gravid, so I mix some of the powder with water to make a paste, and I rub some lumps of it on her mouth. She doesn't mind at all.

Thanks a lot guys! I am keeping that zoomed calcium based supplement without the D3 in a small bottlecap inside her terrarium. I just think she doesnt like that particular supplement on the insects, because i've also tried with mealworms and get the same results. Perhaps i SHOULD try powdering a bit more lightly. I just dont want her to have any calcium deficiency issues, shes been healthy for the past 5 years and i dont want that to change. The thing is, finding a herp-vet where i live (Puerto Rico) is a problem, thats why i turn to the forum for help, and its GREAT! Thanx guys!

yes reptiloso if your leo don't eat any dust insect you need to give him locusts and phoenix worms and locusts you can give much vegetables to add vitamins to the insects ... but the locusts are a bit expensise!

you can also use a gutload based in calcium to feed your crickets with ;D

reptiloso,
do you have other geckos? if there are others and she is the only one refusing to eat the dusted crickets, then try the suggestions above.
in case you only have one gecko and no way to compare, maybe there is something wrong with the calcium you are using now. try another brand.
i'm assuming that she accepted the dusted insects before. considering that she is healthy at already 5 years old, and refused the calcium just now. so the fault could be the current calcium powder.
