Hey. On Sunday I recieved a pair of Phelsuma ornata which i i paid someone to pick up from Hamm for me. I am over the moon with them!

I currently have them in a 45x45x60cm exo terra partitioned down the middle by the background. It's not ideal, but it is only temporary. I am building them a 40x40x60cm viv (i just need to put mesh on the roof and vents now :D).

Hope fully i'll have some babies next season!

Thanks alot guys! They are unbelievably fast and shy arn't they! As soon as i walk into my room, they are off to hide like a bullet. They haven't yet eaten either, but i am hoping this is just as they are settling in. I have built them a better viv now. I just need the mesh to arrive in the post, and silicon in on the roof and ventilation strip. Then it will be finished. Hopefully by the weekend i will have them into their propper viv. For the winter i will have a partition down the middle to separate them (the total viv is 40x40x60cm, so they will have 20x40x60cm each). Then in spring time, if the female has grown a bit more to catch up with the male, i will give the viv a good clean out and introduce them (by removing the partition and re-aranging it all). Are Ornata particularly aggressive when introducing them? I also hope in the new viv, the lighting will be better meaning that their colours will come out a bit better. I'm glad you like them,

Ed

As with most phelsuma. There will be some aggression with breeding. The female will stay smaller then the male. So just keep a close eye on them when you do introduce them. Best of luck.

Hi. Thank you very much. Today i came home to find the female had gotten past the partion and was in with the male. The male seemed quite terrtiorial towards her and was chasing her. She seems to have a small bite on her back where the skin in torn a little (it is not on her neck, and judging by the males attitude, i would have said they definately were not mating or anything like that). I have put her back in her side of the viv. I dont know how she got into the other side. I am hoping in 2 days time (possibly tommorrow), they will be in compeletely spearate vivs or will be separated better down the middle, so hopefully they wont come into contact again until i try introduce them in the spring.

The male ate for the first time today! He had a little lick of some fruit baby food. I have not seen the female feed, but it looks maybe litke she had a little nnibble on the babyfood. I got some more pictures of them which i will post up later. Their colours seem to be becoming even more beautiful

Heya. The female got into the males viv again today. He really doesn't like her and chases her around. He has bit her aswell. Tommorrow the female is moving into a completely different viv, so they should not end up together again until i propperly introduce them later. Here are some more photos. They are taming down a bit, and both have tried a little bit of fruit baby food. Neither have eaten a cricket to my knowlege. Their colours are becoming fantastic!

This next photo shows the bite on her side. It looks small, but deep :(
