Hi, I've recently put a deposit down on a pair of P.Grandis (labelled Grandis by the shop) there about 7-8 inches long, what age would your say for this length? A year plus?

Ill be ordering a 24x18x24 Exo Terra for their viv, coupled with plantation soil/moss substrate and bark/bamboo.

I've got a list of plants for planting, however im unsure on there UV requirements, i have a ExoTerra canopy, the type with 3 sockets on two switches.
Can i just screw in a couple of UV bulbs on one switch and a normal day bulb in the other? what ratings would i need? any preferred brands?

I have a Maplins ultrasonic mister on order, i intend to use this in a sealed bucket with 2 outlet pipes to mist my Gekko Grossmanni and P.Grandis at the same time, and remove the need for me to open the enclosure several times a day.

Does this species require the rear wall heating, or will bulbs be enough?

the age will depend on the food and warmth that they've had thus far. A rough guess would be 8-10 months. Don't know the fittings on the enclosure. If they're for uv tubes, I'd put in a zoomed 5.0 for the UV and then for good overall lighting, a phillips TLD 960 and an activa ..oops forgotten the make..think its a 71..covers the UVA range into the visible. Whether you need spots will depend on the ambient room temp. Again, the need for additional heating will depend on the outside temp. You want to aim for a general day temp in the high 20's with a temp gradient between the basking spots and the coolest area. Night temps can go down to 15 deg or so with relative comfort so if you're keeping them indoors, additional heating at night shouldn't be necessary.

thanks for the reply PhelsumaUK, the E-T canopy has ES bulb fittings. so i was looking at UV bulbs not tubes. i can use 2 UV on 1 circuit and another 20w bulb for a warm spot on a seperate circuit
i was looking at this sort of bulb ebay link

these animals need both UVA and UVB dont they, this one claims to provide both... is it suitable, would one be enough?
There are so many types and brands its all rather confusing, think i need a months deep reading in this forum..

That bulb will be perfect for Klemmeri. I use the T8 tube version of that bulb since a long time now and have not had any issues. The compact version is especially good as it offers a bit more UVB. I will soon be switching to these as the store that used to carry my T8 tubes will no longer be carrying T8 lamps soon and I refuse to buy them anywhere else as they are much more expensive than the compact bulb in the size I need.

For your size tank I would add two.

Also 24x18x24 seems a bit on the small side for a pair of grandis esp after adding in 10cm of substrate. I would never keep a pair in anything smaller than 80x50x80-100cm (80 being the least if you are really strapped for space). They are a pretty big gecko.
