flex watt heat tape question?

I have just ordered some and i was wondering if i mount the tape to the back of the rack system if it will heat up the inside to the right amount? or should i go with my original plan and keep the tape on the bottom of the totes? Anyone with experience with this would be of great help and thanks for any info possible.

I keep mine on the bottom, though some people mount it on the back. I keep it on the bottom because leopard geckos need belly heat.
Just remember to keep it on a thermostat.

the reason i asked about the back is the new rack system i made is very snug with the totes so i really dont want to damage the flex watt heat tape. so that is why i was wondering if the back would work. i know the belly is better nd that is where i would like it, but if it doesnt work there i was just wondering if it would be ok on the back of the totes. Thanks for the reply.
