It's my bad to assume. I just figured someone would learn all they can before getting 57 animals. I know I don't know enough to care for 57- more so I don't have the energy with my illness. It suppose it's different when you're not sick. I prefer to have all I need prior to when I actually need it. I don't think my husband would approve of me not knowing everything there is to know before getting an animal. Hell he made me read books before I got my betta fish...

A person with 57 leos wouldnt have asked those obvious things!
The first step before buying an exotic animal (but even a dog or a cat) is a very deep knowledge of the species, and your husband rules!!!:biggrin::biggrin:

Thanks to him I have a very spoiled betta fish who feeds on live bloodworms, krill, and fruit flies. Lol. Long with a full natural 5gal tank complete with live plants! Spoiled little Paul. Yes, the betta is named Paul.

I love the bettas, they can live EVERYWHERE, and i have some friends of mine keepin them into empty rum bottles, like the pampero one....

That's actually a common misconception. Lol. A single betta does okay in a small jar, but would you like me to lock you in a closet? Yes, you can live. But will you thrive? A single betta minimum is a 2.5gal, with a low cycle filter, weekly 25% water changes, a 7.2pH level (normal fish like 6.8ish) and live food. My Betta, Paul, is in a 2.5gal and he looks so cramped. He'll be upgraded soon'nuff. They also prefer warmer temps, 78-80F, anything below 76F and they get sick. I'm finding it more difficult to care for a betta than for a leo. I've read numerous books the last few weeks (since I got Paul as a party favor) and I'm completely shocked at the care they require as the pet stores lie (I don't know why I found that surprising!) about the care.

About the betta, i guess you talked about the difference between "live" and "survive" and you're absolutely right about this.

I know old but have to comment on the bettas as I was a betta breeder. Rice paddies first of all, are MILLIONS and MILLIONS of gallons, now... why the hell would you tell someone this fish that came from a rice paddy can live in a dixie cup for the rest of its life.

Mine lived in a 55 gallon, males also lived together provided that there were plenty of hiding places and and space.

freaking Petco and Petsmart are the biggest hypocrites out there, they have so many poor creatures that are dead, barely alive, sick, malnourished, or neglected. Not so nice to find a dead hamster or a betta on its side in a filthy nasty cup.... crazy

Super Snow Tremper, but she's very unique in coloring. Darker than a typical Super Snow Tremper.

Gosh you guys are lucky!!! 57 geckos? I have the one and only Gizmo the spoiled little leo who lives in a nice roomy 20 gal. long. I wish i could get another. after all the vet bills this crazy lil one has cost me, my parents would kill me if i thought of getting another, let alone breeding! ( still wish i could though)

Ah, to live in California! If you need any winter themed pictures feel free to come to South Dakota. It is a blizzard outside as I type this, and 17 degrees. The sad part is that's WARM. We have a HIGH of 1 degree on Wednesday.

Love the pictures! I agree, a calendar would be great... even if the only theme is artistic shots of a variety of morphs!
