Just got my delivery of 100 crickets. :) They SHOULD last me for a bit. ;) My kitten is named Boy, he's now fully people toilet trained. He poops and pees in the people toilet, so, no more litter :) He's just so eager to please, he was a feral kitten, it took a little work getting him used to us, now he's a right snuggle bunny. :)

Hi ~

Just piggybacking on one of the other ideas. A 56 quart Sterilite plastic bin can sometimes be found on sale for $5 at places like Fred Meyers. I bought three recently at that price. I keep them open without the lid. Even 4 wo + crickets do not jump out. I layer egg cartons two high. It is the mosture from the moist stuff you feed them which causes them to die and to smell. Feed a dry diet, place a paper towel on top of the egg cartons and spray that every other day for moisture and you will have a cricket bin which does NOT smell.

Hi ~

Maurice Pudlo has posted a very informative thread in the Feeders, Food & Nutrition subforum. His advice is now a "sticky" on top of the other threads and what I will use when I run out of what I have now. I would advise you to read his post. (There are actually 2 posts. The first includes a few more specifics on the cricket food, but not nearly the details which his Sticky post has.)

(I do like to feed the older crickets collard greens, however.)

thanks for the info dotzilla but i really dont have all the money in the world to go but another aquarium right now and i just got the cricket keeper so i dont want to just let it go so....can crickets really slid though those bars? and should i just tape it up or what???

Keep the whole critter keeper in a cardboard box, line the top few inches of the box with packing tape. Crickets cant climb over the tape so that should solve your escapee issue till you can find a proper enclosure for the crickets.

A large plastic bin with most of the lid cut out and replaced with metal window screen works best for keeping crickets, again line the top few inches with that clear packing tape and escape is pretty much prevented.

The larger the container the better, tall helps most with the jumpy little crickets, they do tend to launch themselves pretty high when you bug them every day.
