I an new to this site and now own 2 pretty neat Gecko,s. Can anyone let me know how long it takes for eggs to hatch? I am trying to keep the heat & humidity right. I am concerned about the egg though. It looks look it has shrunk a bit. Color is still quite white. I was very carefully to place the egg in a container I saw show on You-tube. Can anyone show me a link to photos of what the egg should look like as the days pass on. Thanks Capt,n

It's hard to give advice when we don't know what kind of gecko you have. Let us know. To start, you can also google "[type of gecko] breeding" and you'll get a bunch of info.

Hi Capt,n ~

Welcome to GU! This is a great gecko site. 20,000+ geckophiles must have it right .

Let us know what type of gecko you have so that GU can better assist you :).

Fertile eggs take on a pinkish cast as the embryo develops.

Gecko egg care & hatching

HI The Gecko,s I Have are the spotted type. The ones that are quite common on You-Tube. Like I say, I am concerned about the egg because it is not full but it is shrinking for some reason. It does have a streak of a red-purple inside....not sure what that means. I guess I could take a photo, but I do not know how to up-load it. Thanks Capt,n

Do you have a leopard gecko? Is that a leopard gecko egg?

A "red-purple" streak could be a sign that your egg is fertile.

There are hundreds of different types of geckos with spots. I'll assume that what you are speaking of is a leopard gecko (Eublepharis macularius). If that is indeed what you have, here is a link to the information you need to utilize to incubate the egg: Albey's How To Incubate Leopard Gecko Eggs
We have a whole forum dedicated to leopard geckos. You may find it somewhat educational to do some reading there as well: Leopard Geckos | and other Eublepharis - Geckos Unlimited
