enigma or not?

hello everyone.

this gecko puzzles me a bit.
i'm not too familiar with the enigma morph, so i did a bit of reading. and now i'm inclined to think i have one.
what that makes me think it's enigma are the blotches on the back and it exhibits enigma motor function. classic enigma movement like always staring up, sometimes going in circles and slow but jerky movement.

i initially bought this as a hypo, dismissing the markings on the back as an ordinary spot. i started having doubts when i observed the way it moved around. so looked it up and the characteristics point toward enigma. but the eyes and tail don't look like the enigmas i see in google image search.

what do you think?

TIA

Looks like a gorgeous Hypo. No enigma. Some geckos look up when you open their tub in the rack or lid off their tank.

alee,
thanks for the compliment. first i thought she was just looking at me when i feed/clean. but i observed quietly from a distance and she still stares at her ceiling a lot even if the cage is closed. and she sometimes does that tail chasing thing and she always walks very slowly, one step then pause. almost like a chameleon. the unusual movements made me think it's enigma. but i got to agree with you that her appearance doesn't fit the enigma morph.

aside from the colors/genetics, the individuality of each gecko is what really fascinates me about the hobby. truly interesting critters.

With that personality you just have a very neat little girl. :) I have a few that stare at their lids in the rack. They know I take them off to change the floor, they put the two together. Lid=freedom. Then in my tank I have Viola, who's always jumping off her log to try and get out of the tank, with a lid still on it. They're all very unique, and it really does make it fun to get new geckos!

Enjoy your gorgeous hypo. :) But I'm sure you already enjoy her!

if there is any noise going on it might be looking for the source. i know if i have music playing or am talking on the phone then my leo will look up thinking that i'm above her its not till i get close to the tank before she looks at me.

I'm personally inclined to believe that these types of issues, which you hear more and more often about these days, are the results of many years of way too much inbreeding in this species. No, I don't have any science behind that...it's just an opinion. But it doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize that sooner or later, hundreds of generations of inbreeding are going to start taking affect.

Actually, you're right Ethan. I'm going try to dig up the thread on a different site. But there's been evidence that their genetics are getting weaker and weaker (along with common sense). That's why the last year they're pushing out-crossing more and more with W/C's over seas and importing the CB/CH's here. It's also been proved that Super Snow combos are the weakest, especially when with the Enigma gene.
