Alright so my thought to be male leopard gecko is actually a female... The guy i bought them from told me they were a breeding pair and that they were proven breeders. I believed him and decided to see his pores about 10 minutes ago and guess what? no pores. no bulges no nothing... i was just wow'd.:yikes: I thought about calling the guy and tellin him he owes me 20 dollars because i paid for the breeding pair.:fight: so if theyre breeding pair, they must be lesbian and go to the sperm bank?:lol: so what i thought to be male, is female. has anybody else ever had this happen to them?

Just buy a male from some one who knows about geckos and he can have two females.

What male doesn't want that?

And in the future just check before you buy.

I wouldn't of made the mistake in the first place, since they're "proven breeders" then that implies they're full grown. If I'm being sold two full grown geckos they're clearly sexable. A quick peak at their vents would of proven two females, and avoided this whole dilemma.

Shiz happens. Learn, move on. Get a male as cookie suggested.

lol. every male wants 2 females. and i didnt have time. i had to get them because i had a 10 minute window because i had somewhere to be. it doesnt matter to me. just i was surprised

Were you really that interested in breeding them anyways? I think females are easier to care for since males are more likely to have problems around their vents.

Maybe with prolapses, but the general consensus is that if you're going to get a lizard and have no intentions of breeding it, get a male to avoid the possible issues that go along with egg binding.

Thats still a lot more rare than having a prolapse though.

This is probably going to sound a little silly and i'm sure you've already checked it, but have you sexed both of your geckos? In your original post with pictures you say that the male is yellow and the female is orange but in the last set of pictures the orangish gecko appears to have bulges at the base of it's tail from the side view. Maybe it's just a camera illusion though? Worth a thought.
