How can I STOP a female from laying more eggs???

Hello to all!!

I have a 9 year old leopard gecko (female) and this year, out of a little mistake she mated with a male (it was NOT intentional).... anyways, she has laid 14 eggs so far and apparently 2 more will come any day now (I can see them in her tummy), almost all the eggs (except for ONE) are apparently fertile, and the first 3 have hatched already.... the rest are looking good in the incubator... anyways, since I am not a comercial breeder and I highly doubt I would sell any of my babies (too big a risk of they ending up in bad hands) I am planing on keeping them ALL, the thing is, I would really like her to stop laying now.... two main reasons: I know that laying that many eggs will weaken her, even as I feed her everyday, provide lots of calcium (she eats a LOT of calcium right from her dish) and vitamins, I believe her life shortens with every pair of eggs, and also because it will take a lot of time and money to take propper care of so many geckos, (including the ones I have now, and the ones to come.....) does ANYONE knows what could I do in order to make her not lay anymore?????

I want to make it clear that I WILL take care of all the babies that hatch, I know they are MY responsability, I just wish she wouldnt lay anymore...

Any advice out of experience or even theories will be highly appreciated!!

how long has she been laying for this season

First lay: February 16th
Second: March 1st
Third: March 15th (one good egg, one infertile - was very very small, about half a normal egg and got grey in a few days after laying... it's "brother" hatched perfectly-)
Fourth: March 29th
Fifth: April 8th
Sixth: April 24th
Seventh: May 6th

Every 2 weeks almost exactly...

The only thing you can do is make sure there aren't any more accidents and keep your eyes open for potential good new owners. She can store that sperm for a long time and just keep fertilizing. Abstinence is the only birth control I know of for leos.

The "accident" was that I used to house her with her son (last season's hatch), I never thaught such a young leo could mate!! He was less than 8 months old!!! I separated inmediately and now He is alone in a tank.... there is no chance this could happen again.... I just didn't knew he was already sexually mature, he was quite small (both in size and age).... his name was johny, but after this I changed it to "Randy" .... there was another female in that enclosure, good luck he didn't got the other one pregnant as well.....

Forgot to add in the PM. That female you PM'd me photos of x randy would make normals/snows het Albino. If she's a snow then you can get super snow's too.

With all those eggs being laid she should be done soon.

If you see infertiles soon hopefully you could also try too cool her down. I would do that a wk or so after the eggs to try and put her in a brumation. I've has success getting girls to stop by doing this. When I bring them out of it I make sure they are in a vacation tub Alone.

That's a good idea! Thanks... I believe she has 2 more eggs almost to come now (she laid the last pair 11 days ago...) so, I am going to wait for this ones to come out and remove her under tank heater inmediately after that.... it is mostly because I don't want her to consume herself too much from all this eggs!.... one friend called me yesterday, she had bought a gecko a few weeks ago from a trader and he died (just a hatchling and never ate, probably parasites, bacteria, or gastro, that trader has a bad reputation, she should have told me and I would have warned her not to buy from him.... anyway....) and she had spent a lot of money in a huge tank, caves, UTH, vitamins, etc etc etc (that would have been one spoiled gecko) so I am thinking about giving her one, she is very sad because of hers and I truly believe she could be a good owner, without intentions to breed them, and she already has everything a leo would need..... probably one of mine will end up being hers, that way I can stay in touch with it :)

If she has a huge tank then maybe she would be interested in a pair....

I know if I was anywhere in the area I would try and help you out, as it is Winnipeg is a long way from Caracas.

Could be... only I would have to be careful not to give her 2 males.... perhaps could give her one first and one after a couple of months when I can be sure of the sex.... althoug I believe most my hatchlings will be females because of incubation temps...
