Eggs dying Leopard Gecko

I've got two hatchlings from Princess and the next egg due to hatch was Yoshi's I only had one viable one from her because all her others have been empty. This egg was getting bigger and everything looked fine but she was getting long over due so I candled the egg with an led torch and now the egg looks pretty empty. If the embryo died would it decompose inside the egg. If the embryo has just moved it must be pretty small otherwise. This year is my first year of breeding my geckos and I was really looking forward to this egg hatching because Yoshi was my first gecko and she's so lovely and friendly. I've left the egg in the incubator and I didnt move it to candle it just shone the light down on it. The egg hasn't collapsed or got mold on it the sell is more transparent that the two eggs that are due to hatch after this one. I've been trying to find any information I can about eggs but all I seem to find is 'Leave them until they go bad and smell because they coud still be ok'. Any information about eggs would be great. The humidity and temp and everything in the incubator is fine by the way.

So sorry to hear that about Yoshi. I wish I could help you more. Maybe post some pics of the candled eggs. By now (you said its been months right?) from what I've learned so far, there should be some sort of formation you can see. Im not experienced I just read your post and it made me sad but hopeful for your egg. *crossing fingers for ya* Hope someone else chimes in with some useful information.

I candled the egg last month and you could def see the baby lizard inside I only gave it a quick flash tho so I wouldn't disturb it and the egg looked pretty full. I can't see the red shape any more tho. Thanks for the support )

If the egg hasn't collapsed or got mold on it then i would leave it for the mo as i have had an egg that has gone to 87 day's before it hatched and reading up on them it is said not to get rid of any healthy looking egg's before 100 day's.I wish you al the best with it anyway.

If the baby dies inside the egg- yes it will decompose. It'll turn from a dark shadow/veiny into a cloudy yellowish color. Almost brown, but not quite.

I was wrong the egg just hatched yesterday I can't believe it we'd left it in the incubator and it wasn't looking good at all - Col looked in the incubator when he got home from work and said the eggs collapsed and I thought he meant that the egg had sunk in and was rotted like her other egg. My heart sank but hen he said there's a baby :yahoo: I've called her Mia

Thanks for the advice everyone I guess its a real example of don't give up until they rot
