I got two leopard geckos about 3 days apart and they both were the same age, got shipped from the same supplier, both girls and they both eat alot. Yoshi, who i got first has been getting nice and fat and her tail is huge. Where as Floyd is still very skinny and has a thin tail. can someone tell me what might be wrong? Floyd eats alot more then Yoshi actually which is why i'm confused.

I suggest you take her to a vet and get her checked out. You never know, it maybe something as simple as parasites. :?

If they live together it's quite common for one to dominate the food and one to be more submissive and end up being thinner. This is one of the many reasons for keeping your geckos in individual enclosures. It makes it much easier to monitor who is eating what. Also, if they live in the same enclosure and one of them has parasites, it only stands to figure that the other does as well.

If you watch them eat and the smaller one is the one that eats a lot, then it's highly possible it has parasites. A fecal exam would be a good start, those should be cheaper than a full on vet exam. But some vets require you to do a full exam so I don't know, you'll have to ask a vet that can treat leopard geckos in your area for pricing and such.

SInce you say the thin one is the one that eats the most it is probably parasites! I would separate them, because if it is the case then you'll get your healthy gecko contaminated as well.... if it something else, also would be better to separate them, if you are looking for a cheap vet appointment collect the sample yourself and call the vet first and say you just want to have a fecal exam, not a whole appointment, and rememeber, if it is not a vet that has experience with leopard geckos he must know that they ALWAYS have parasites and bacteria, but the levels have to be low in order to be healthy, would be god to compare feces of a healthy gecko and the thin gecko

The full vet trip should be under 100, probably, but it can vary from vet to vet.

I echo everyone else, for the time being separate them. You can make a cheap tank out of a plastic storage container for the time being. If I were you, I would move the larger one because if the move does stress her at all it will not be such an issue.

My vet trip cost $83. That included a full body exam and two medications. The exam was only $50. It shouldn't be too much more than that.
