I put dusted crickets in the tank. Shes laying in the corner arms out and only moves a little if one touches her foot. The male layed on her untill he left to chase the crickets. Dunno if he ate some but i hope so.

He's probably eating. She is probably past chasing right now that's why she will need to be hand-fed for a while.

Hey Michael just wanted to let you know she passed last night. Thanks for all the help you offered. My lil man lost his female and hes pretty sad. For the first time he didnt bark or jump when i went to take her out. I feel so bad.

Yeah, I'm sorry about your girl. Will the seller replace her? Assuming they still have inventory, most resellers of fresh imports will replace the animal if it does not make it a few days. If they can not, or will not, please let me know.

Now, lets make sure he is eating well, spends all his time on a vertical or vertically slanted surface, tends to hide during the day and is behaving like a Tokay.

On the day that you can take a fecal sample to the vet, pick him up and you'll most likely get what you need as soon as you do. I'm not convinced they were treated for internal parasites.

Let me know about getting her replaced, thanks.

I will talk to the vet today when I take her body if to be disposed of. Once I get a price and what not I'll come back and pick him up to try for some poop. Im pretty sure he ate cause I only see 1 cricket in there and i put 5. Do I need to clean the tank or throw anyone the stuff in it away or is it ok for him untill his new much larger Terrarium shows up on the 13th? Its going to be a 18x18x24. Right now hes doing what he has done since ive got him. Hes got stuff to climb but prefers laying on top of the half log hide because thats the basking spot atm. Last night i did see him on the glass side when he was after the food but hes back guarding that hide. You will know when you stick your hand in there lol. He opens his mouth wide and barks. I never really saw her ever open her mouth :/. As for a replacement they do offer or give store credit. I will prolly not ask for one though because I will have to pay the $40 shipping so its cheaper to take the lose of what I paid for her. Sad that he wont have his mate anymore but i just can pay the shipping right now. Id rather pay for the fecal which is also almost $40.

OK, lets get him squared away in his new enclosure when it arrives.

By the way, Tokay do not usually 'bask' like other lizards. I'm guessing that the enclosure is still too cold.

Do you own a heating pad like you would use for a sore back? If so, place it under the tank and set it on low or medium. His enclosure should be no lower than 80 degrees at night and at least 90 during the day. These large pads work better for an 18" x 18" and are usually $17 to $20. (Just make sure you get one that does not turn off automatically. Try independent hardware stores. The one I see is made by Sun Beam). The reptile pads that size are a lot more money and you cannot regulate the temperature and in some cases, get it warm enough. A basking light will not heat the whole enclosure especially if the enclosure is located in a room at room temperatures. The glass is not a good insulator so bottom heat is essential to creating that tropical environment he is used to.

I have looked at heating pads at all the stores in my town and could not find any that werent auto shut off. Currently im using a infer red bulb that gets the area its over to about 87 which is where he is laying. I also just noticed he ate no crickets :( they climbed up the plant and were hiding. Im getting worried, i dont want to lose him to.

I stuck a heat mat under the tank that shuts off every 2 hours but I can turn it back on when the times is up. Its 85 where hes at and on the other side of the tank its 79-80 and thats without the pad. My room temp stays around 74. Should i use a normal light buld during the day or stay with the infer red. The normal light gave off same heat but i heard the light stresses them out.
