why is my leopard gecko like this

I recently got a Leo about a week ago. I wanted to pick him up today but whenever I touch him he runs. I touch his back and that's it. How do I get him used to me?:?

pick him up. just pick him up and let him hand walk i have found very few like to be pet like a dog or cat they feel like it is a predator getting ready to eat them

When ever I touch he just runs. When my brother picked him up he squirmed violemtly and a few, minutes later opened his mouth up wide.

I got him from a petstore so I'm not sure of his exact age but he looks like a hatchling. I never picked him up I only touched him.

don't touch him he thinks you are a predator pick him up and set him in your hand all babies will run if you touch them on the head or body. just pick him up and set him in you hand like this

Do I just grab him or is there a certain way?

just gentle grab him and put him in your hand he is not use to being handled but if you pick him up each night and hold him he will get to where he is not as scared the pic of the one i showed you i just got today he was scared to and would run i just grab him and put him in my hand

that is fine that is what i do the first few days to get them use to being held then i can take them out

pick him up using your fingers gently scooping him up and letting him walk on your hands every night for at least five minutes.

no don't make him run it will just scare him just let him do what he wants if you scare him to bad he could drop his tail

no need to be nervous just be gentle hold him for 5 mins then let him step off your hand back in the tank do it every night and he will get use to you picking him up and hold him

when you tried to pick him up? if so he will do that just pick him up anyways and place him in your hand
