oh noppe...I finally got a thermometer with a probe that I am using instead of the circle analog one and I hope order tomorrow a temperature oh what are they called I can see it in my head for the under the tank heating pad so you know if it is keeping a constant temperature oh yes a digital thermostat duuh i don't know how i forgot that. But anyway I am pretty sure my temperature issue(s) will be resolved after I order the thermostat for the heating pad.

You mentioned this in another post and I wanted to make sure these were not air temps?

They probably mean the temps we usually say 88-93 for, like right on the surface. Even if it did hit 96, I'm sure it wouldn't cause any problems as long as the gecko had a cooler place to go to, though 90 or 91 would probably be a better temp to strive for.

That does sound a little bit warm. However, each gecko is different and is best at choosing what it needs as an individual. If your gecko isn't usually on the hot side, it's likely too hot; if your gecko spends a decent amount of time there, it's probably alright. Just have to keep an eye on behaviour to know if it's too much and make sure he has areas that are plenty cool (ie not a 10 gallon).

He suggested I keep my temperatures during the day around 88-96 and at night don't let them drop below 75. It does look to be getting more loose so to say, earlier he just looked white and I could tell he was getting ready to shed but it didn't look ready to come off, and now there are bits and pieces he got off.


I just wanted to make sure the whole enclosure was not 88-96 and he was cooking.:biggrin:

Scroll through the Leo Caresheet linked in my signature. There you will find several methods for giving warm soaks to a leo in attempts to gently loosen stuck skin.

Mod Thorrshamri suggests putting a chamomile teabag in the warm bath to assist in that process.

Something else is going on, so I hope you will troubleshoot your husbandry. Perhaps the temperatures have been just too warm?
