Leopard gecko's growth rate

Hi there

I'm new to this website, I have a female leopard gecko, she's probably about 10 months now. I have a question on growth rate - my gecko seems to shed every 2 weeks, is this normal? She has always been fast at shedding. I only feed her dusted (calcium without D3 6 days a week and multivitamin once a week) crickets.

Thank you.

A hearty welcome to Geckos Unlimited!

What brand and type of vitamins are you dusting her prey with?

What do you feed the crickets?

Please post pictures of her and of her setup.

Thanks for the prompt reply!

I tried to upload pictures, but it doesn't seem to work, half of the page was blank - I probably use a different browser and see the difference.

I use the zoomed brand for Calcium and Multivitamin - crickets eat vegetables and pellet food.

Pako has a humid hide that she uses very frequently since she keeps shedding (after finishes one shed, she gets ready for the next one, usually within 2 weeks).

Thanks again.

Sometimes, ;-), "prompt" reply.

Reason I ask is that Zoo Med's Reptivite comes with and without vitamin D3. It is generally agreed to follow the package's instructions which recommend a light dusting 2-3x per week only. It is also important that the multivitamin contain vitamin D3. Reptivite with D3/A acetate contains everything that your leo will need, but it does not take the place of feeding your crickets a healthy diet all the time.

Vitamin D3 assists in the metabolism of calcium. Just using calcium alone is insufficient.

By dusting with something at every feeding you could very well be overdoing your leo's supplementaion.

Tell me more about the "pellet" food. Ingredient listing and % of various ingredients will be helpful.

Another way to feed the crickets is to follow these guidelines: http://www.geckosunlimited.com/comm...-feeding-issues/68574-cricket-guidelines.html
