Thoughts on Tank

Hi Everyone!

Well I just wanted to get everyones input about my tank (constructive please). I know right now its a bit bland but soon I plan on replacing the hide in the left corner with the reptile magnetic den. Add a magnetic ledge for them to climb on and add a few plants (fake) here and there. Those probably wont come for a while so I was just wondering what you guys think I could do with the tank. Btw this is housing two leos.

Thanks everyone! George2015-01-13 20.08.43.jpg

What size is it? It looks a bit small for two geckos

How big is your tank? Are you using a uth (under tank heater)? To prevent fights between leos you need to have 2 warm dry hides, 2 warm humid hides, and two dry hides. Substrate is a big thing that people butt heads about. It is possible for leos to eat the loose substrate which can cause impaction problems. Some choose to keep loose substrate but why risk it if its not necessarily. "Better" options for substrate are dry paper towels or tile. I prefer tile because it looks better and is more permanent. What are your temps on your warm side? Floor temps should be between 88-91 degrees F inside the warm hide, ambient air temps 4 inch above the ground on the warm side should be somewhere around 75-80 degrees, 85 being max. What sex are your two leos? Do you leave the over head light on 24/7? unless this is used for heat it is not necessary, bright lights can stress your geckos out.

I have them in a 20 gallon long. Yep I'm using an undertank heater and the warm side gets to around 92 while the cool side gets to around 82 and the ambient temp. is around room temp. Both of them are females and they dont really mind eachother at all. Also I just turn the dome when the room gets a bit colder than prefered and at night usually. Also I dont plan to keep them in this 20 gal forever I plan to move them to a 40 gal breeder soon.

Okay good, will you be getting a bigger uth also? I have a 40 gallon and i had to have a ceramic heat emitter (che) also to get the temps right.

I like it for a glass tank. The humidity might be an issue per the photo:) Upgrade to a 40 soon. 20 seems to be more choice for a single adult.

I would nix the magnetic ledge. They are not real stable and have a tendency to fall which could injure them.
