Shipping an adult gecko...please help!

I am in a situation in which I need to give my 1 1/2 yr. old female gecko (Scooter) to my daughter who lives across the country in California. I am very fond of Scooter and don't want anything bad to happen to her. But, it is best if I don't keep her. I called the airlines and they said that you can't take reptiles on board a plane (I am flying out to see my daughter and would have personally transported her). They said they only take dogs, cats, birds, and rabbits. (Reptile discrimination!) So, my alternative is shipping her. Is this possible? I know people ship young geckos but an adult? I need exact details on how to do this. Also what company should I use to ship? Are there special companies that know how to transport a live animal? Please help. Thank you.

ShipYourReptiles.com is perfect for you. We offer shipping kits that come with everything you will need for a one time shipment. Insulated box, bag, deli cup, heat pack, everything you need for your single shipment. You can buy packaging in bulk as well, if you will be shipping more in the future.

Check out our ShipYourReptiles Get Help section as well, it has extensive detail about the process, packaging, heat pack use and regulating the temperature of your package. It is actually easier to ship in cold weather than it is in hot weather, but there are temperature cut offs at both extremes, we cover that in the FAQ.

We offer SYR On-Time and Live Arrival Insurance as well, which no other carrier does.

If you have questions, or would like us to walk you through the process, contact Brad at Info@ShipYourReptiles.com and he can get you squared away!

I just wanted to let anyone who is reading know that Scooter reached me (the original poster's daughter) safely in California! Here she is in her new home:
