Giants?

I've read a few articles saying regardless of genetics if a LG is a certain weight (length to a less degree) before such age it qualifies as a "giant". I asked the writer how? He responded. How do you think we defined the " giant" and kindly asked me to keep him anonymous?

My questioned was spawned by my 10" 8 month old female who now weighs in at 61 grams. Not thats she's a Giant but curiosity got the best of me.

Smaller giants can pop up randomly, but in order to get the larger giants or supergiants, linebreeding is needed

I took her to the vet because I was getting her "checked out". He had a great instrument to measure snakes but it worked on the gecko. Completely straight she was 10". The vet said it was one of the longest LG's for her age. He went as far as saying she might be younger than I thought due to the " lack of seperation of black dots"? He's respected and said half his business for the past 8 years has been LG's and Ball Pythons.

You were absolutely right. He also said not to worry about her weight.

It was my understanding that giants needed to come from giant lines, but I'm no giant expert (I don't even have a beanstalk). I do have a male gecko that gets to be about 115 grams at his peak. I had a hatchling once that weighed 51 grams at 3 months, but I wouldn't consider either of them giants.

Mines not a giant. Just a lanky female gecko. I'm just interested in giant requirements. If there's a popular opinion. I just wonder if their is anything like the AKA for LG's?

I know in American Culture "bigger is better" I wonder if someone is working on "dwarf" lines?

There have been several documented leopard gecko dwarves. On another forum, someone has a dwarf that is now 5 years old and he documents about her occasionally. It's my understanding that the dwarves can have some health problems and I don't think anyone wants to make more of them.

Makes sense. I heard about dwarve AFT's but never LG's by culture I'm conservative by environment kinda liberal. I just hope we always have a common LG. It'd be a shame if they were bred out. I know nothing about genetics so maybe its not possible. I hope we dont throw the baby out with the bath water.
