Lifespan of under tank heaters.

I was just curious of the lifespan of under tank heaters. I have a Reptitherm UTH that is 2 years old now. It's working fine and I have it on a thermostat but was wondering if/when I can expect to replace it (and how to remove it when that happens)

Thanks!

They are generally pretty reliable for a long time. I have several that are years old and still work just fine.
If they are the kind that stick on with a sticky back, it's recommended to not remove them once they've been stuck on. Peeling it off breaks the heating elements inside of them and they will likely heat less and need to be replaced sooner.

When the day comes that you have to remove it, use a spatula, then some rubbing alcohol to remove any sticky stuff from the tank.
