Whats wroung with my crested geckos eye?

Her eye is all swollen bruised looking.. thought it was just an injury from hopping around and it started going away but now it suddenly came back and alot worse.

Im trying to decide if i should just take her to be put to sleep as she looks horrible and painful.. is there anything that came be done? Or know what could cause this. I dont want her in pain and if it cant be treated i dont want to prolong it.

WOW! Hopefully a round of antibiotics will cure this.

Does your crestie get multivitamins regularly that contain vitamin A acetate (retinol)? That's necessary for maintaining eye health.

Yikes! A trip to the vet as soon as possible for this kiddo!
Hopefully they are able to drain it and save the eye.
What diet is your crestie being fed?
Is there anything she could have injured herself on?

She gets half repashy orginal mix and half pangea mix. Somtimes she gets repashy grubs n fruit. Also the odd cricket or meal worm with calcium.

The vine rope things maybe.

I hope they can save her eye

Poor gecko! That looks very painful... Maybe some sort of infected injury like the earlier posters thought. I would definitely take your gecko to an exotic vet as soon as possible.

It makes me cringe everytime i look at her, I will be taking her in as soon as they can get me in.

Can a diet from over a year ago effect her today? Her previous owner was feeding her crickets and mushed up bananas which is not good.

That doesn't really seem like an MBD-related issue. As far as I'm aware, Metabolic Bone Disease usually only manifests itself as a weak/crooked jaw, twisted hips, and/or a kinked tail. Her previous diet certainly wasn't good, but as long as you're feeding Repashy or Pangea with minimal fruit or insect supplementation, diet shouldn't be the problem. Maybe your gecko scratched or poked her eye on a branch or decoration in the cage?

She had been on that poor diet for few years before i got her so she was on that diet as a baby as far as i know. Her spine is kind of 'S' shaped.. she was acting healthy and happy and know nothing I could do for her spine. Her tail nub is little kinked but hard to know as she lost her tail.

She might have scratched/poked her eye as shes very lively gecko somtimes.

MBD progresses because of a lack of vitamin D3 over time. A gecko's jaws become soft, not firm. How about lightly dusting her occasional cricket with Zoo Med Repti Calcium with D3 or Repashy's Calcium Plus?

Please update this thread when you have the chance.
