So here I am again lmao, with my problem child. She was recently seen by the vet and declared parasite free but in the last week she's started going off her food. She'll take maybe one or two crickets whereas before she had 6 a day easily. She has to be coaxed into eating them too, before she would charge across the tank to get them. Otherwise her activity levels were fairly normal, and she's lost 1 gram in the last few days.

Today she had one cricket, and just squinted and shied away from offerings of mealies and even waxworms..

I had someone suggest maybe she's ovulating, but this poop has me doubting that's the cause.

Here's a fresh, seconds old poop, it stank, which I know is normal, but it's slightly green and looks borderline runny, so I'm worried about a bacterial or parasitic infection. Not sure how she'd have caught it except for via her food or maybe while she's out exploring, because there is cat hair around on bedding and such.

I'm going to continue to monitor her through the week and take her to the vet if she doesn't improve. I'm not sure what hours the vet is open until new year, but I'm going to shoot them an email asking.

Going by the potential ovulating route, does this patch look like an egg? It doesnt really seem much to me but someone with more experience might think otherwise. Jts a crap photo but holding a lizard up with one hand and photographing with the other is hard 20171225_211134.jpg

I would bring fresh poop to vet and have them send it off for cryptosporidium. It's like 40 bucks, good to know if your gecko is clear off it. You can illuminat that off list. I think I scooped it up with fresh bottle cap , straight in zip lock.

Vets should also be able to test for crypto via a swab in the vent which makes it unnecessary to provide fresh poop.

Totally devastated.

Azula got euthanised today. Two of the vets had a feel of her and said they're 90% sure she's egg bound. She just took two waxworms yesterday too, but she'd lost some weight and they said she was already in poor condition likely before I even got her, so ovulation just took the rest of it out of her. She was supposed to be with me for 15 years not 5 months...

Surgery was an option that I just couldn't afford, and they said it would have been a 20% chance of survival anyway. They said it wasn't a husbandry issue, but I still can't help feeling so guilty that my girl had such a short life.

The vet said he's going to perform a necropsy if he has the time tomorrow...egg binding was the reason I orignally wanted a male but this little one stole my heart.

People keep asking me now if I'll get another one...certainly not any time soon..
