Odd Blue Veins On Head/Lighting Question?

So I noticed my leo has some kind of blueish marks on the top of his head. Maybe they're veins? They look like veins. He had a bad shed recently and I'm worried the skin on the top of his head is damaged in some way. I'm also worried it might be some light damage or something. I have a heat lamp with a purple bulb that came with him when I got him, I heard they don't need lamps so I only use it when the UTH isn't reaching a high enough temp, usually in the mornings after a could night. He doesn't seem bothered by it, in fact he spends quite a bit of time sleeping half out his hide when it's on (still on the heat mat though). Is this normal? Should I cut the light out completely, as it could be to blame? Or should I just give him time after the odd shed.

I'll try to get a picture when I can. He's acting completely normal I am just a very anxious parent.

Throw away the purple bulb. You don't need one. If you want a light in the terrarium then buy a regular terrarium spot light (white or yellow light).
If the blue spots are above its eyes, then it's normal. It's most visible on babies and juveniles.Výst?ižek.jpg

You seem a bit confused. Send a picture of your gecko and its terrarium please.

When room temps dip lower than ~65*F, overhead heat is necessary. All additional heat beyond an adequately sized heat mat should be provided by a ceramic heat emitter (CHE). CHEs emit heat, but NOT light.
  • What is the length/size of your leo's enclosure?
  • What are the dimensions of his heat mat?
If the room is dimly lit during the day, I suggest a low wattage (15 watt) photoperiod bulb to help your leo establish his day and night cycles.
Temperatures - A temperature gradient from warm to cool maintains your leo's health. Here's a temperature guide for all leopard geckos as measured with the probe of a digital thermometer or a temp gun (and controlled by a thermostat set at 91*F/32.8*C):
  • 88-92 F (31.1-33.3 C) ground temperature right underneath a leo's warm dry hide
  • no greater than 82ish F (27.8ish C) air temperature - 4 inches above ground on the warm end
  • no greater than 75 F (23.9 C) air temperature - 4 inches above ground on the cool end
Leave the UTH on 24/7.

I can't help with the blue spots.
