Just recently I went to get some mealworms from my local petsmart and all was well as it’s a pretty alright shop but just now as I went to go through the worms to pick the biggest to feed off I came across this strange bug I’ve never seen and I don’t want to feed my lucy any of these mealworms in fear that something could be wrong so if you could help that would be amazing.image.jpgimage.jpg

Update: Upon further research I found out suprisingly quickly that I believe that it is a larder beetle larvae. I may be wrong but the appear extremely similar. Hope this helps. I mainly just want to know if I should go get my mealworms replaced.

Don't worry about it. It's the larva either of the larder beetle or, more likely, the dermastid beetle. The beetles look like small mealworm beetles. The beetles and larvae often come with crickets and they're useful for eating dead crickets. I use them as scavengers for my planted tanks.
