Fat Gecko

Hi all,

Over the past few weeks to month I've been noticing that my leopard gecko, Alan, has been getting quite chubby

He is on the feeding schedule that Elizabeth Freer suggested, where he gets fed crickets 2x a week and mealworms on Saturdays. He does not get any waxworms.

Anyways, I'm worried that he may get sick or something if he stays this chubby, so I was wondering what would be some good ways to get him to lose weight? He gets fed 3x a week, so I was thinking maybe I could skip a day but I don't know if 2 feeding days would be enough for him. Please steer me in the right direction!

Hi Brooke ~

It's been a while since we've heard from you. :/

Please share a current photo of Alan. How old is he now?

Depending upon the photo, I may suggest going with 2 feedings per week (Monday and Thursday) and skipping any mealworms.

He is going to be 2 yrs old on august 26th.

Here are some photos of him~ IMG_3694.jpgIMG_3696.jpgIMG_3697.jpgIMG_3698.jpg

Also he does look a bit dull/pale in these photos but I'm predicting he's going into shed since he hasn't in a while...

I think it could possibly have something to do with the mealworms but he's been chubby for a while now. I've been traveling a lot here and there and instead of having my family feed him crickets I just prepare mealworms so it's easy so it could contribute? Elizabeth Freer
