Black Solider Fly Larvae & Dubia Roaches

Hello! I'm preparing to buy two Blizzard Leopard Geckos babies from https://www.cbreptile.com and after reading around multiple forums I wanted to ask and get some answers for myself.

I would like to feed my leo's Black Solider Fly Larvae at first then add Dubia Roaches in after a month. Both workingas their staple diet and wanted to know if this be healthy.

I also like to know if I would need to dust the larvae or simply leave calcium without d3 within their enclosure and only dust the Dubia with calcium w/ d3 when I feed those.

I just want to make sure I am not as risk of overloading my babies with calcium since I am a first time owner and want to be ready for everything.

My feeding schedule needs some work as I don't know how to supplement both calcium & multivitamins with BSFL

The first month I will only have BSFL, until I can order Dubias from a local breeder who is currently out of stock.

So for their current diet it would be BSFL. I would leave calcium without d3 in the enclosure.

I have Rep Cal with D3, Rep Cal Multi Vitamins, & am looking to order calcium w/o d3 as well as a under tank heater. And making a humid hide with a plastic bin and wet paper towels.

I have done reserch but its a bit of an overload with how many people are with and against a lot of different things.

Below is a Picture of the Enclosure (I Need to make the Humid hide & buy a UTH for the bottom right side)

How old will your leos be? Are they sexable? Even 2 females can have a bad day and suddenly turn on each other.

Leos can live upwards to 25+ years if all goes well. There's a retired female breeder leopard gecko in the EU who's in her mid-30s! Are you ready? ;-)

BSFL are high in calcium, but your leos will also need a vitamin D3 source to metabolize the calcium.
  • The largest ones are only 3/4 inch.
  • Some leos don't like them at all.
  • Can you buy small dubia?

That enclosure "looks" maybe big enough for 1 leo. How long is it?

I suggest getting dubia from another source at first.

Weekly Schedule 124 for Leopard Geckos 0-12 months old
(without UVB)

Crickets or dubia >> Monday - lightly dusted with Zoo Med Repti Calcium with D3
Mealworms >> Tuesday
Crickets or dubia >> Wednesday - lightly dusted with pure precipitated calcium carbonate (Zoo Med's Repti Calcium or NOW human brand calcium) without D3
Crickets or dubia >> Thursday
Crickets or dubia >> Friday - lightly dusted with Zoo Med ReptiVite multivitamins without D3
Mealworms >> Saturday
No food or free choice >> Sunday

Future weeks:
Continue on since all weeks are identical. . . . . .
