My gecko doesn't seem to want to come near me?

A week ago I bought a leopard gecko(juvenile) and today I tried to handle him/her. They wouldn't go on my hand when I just put it there and instead tried to hide from me and seemed pretty scared. Any tips to help them like me more?

Time. Time and patience, any young animal will take a while to get used to you. for the first few weeks focus more on making sure husbandry is spot on and your new little one is eating before worring about handling. The less stress it has while its settling in to the new home the faster it will over-come the fear response.
