My crested gecko isn't the smartest. I got him from petco which isn't the best idea and I kind of regret it, in the future I am definitely going to go to a breeder. He is my first crested gecko and before I got him I read every forum page, and watched every video about them. I am confident in some of my care but not all of it. For example when it comes to water. I mist his enclosure two times a day once in the morning, and once at night.
Since I have a ceramic heater for his enclosure its hard to keep the humidity up at night so, I put a damp towel on top of the grate, but I do keep some areas open so that it can air out of course. This helps keep in the humidity really well, but also air out so that it doesn't get moldy. I always have a fresh water cup for him and I actually just ordered a large dish for him so if he wants to soak (which they usually don't but why not) he can soak.
My problem is that he is dehydrated, every time I gently pinch his skin it stays up and slowly goes back down. His tail is also slightly wavy but ever since I got him its always been that way. I have kind of been telling myself that maybe its extra skin because he only weighs around 34 to 35, which I read is an okay weight but I would like him to get bigger but he just doesn't seem to. I have been giving him daily soaks for about 3 days now and I have been mixing a little bit of his favorite food with some water to make the water taste better and this has actually been working, but there's another problem that is entangled with the dehydration problem. He is not a big eater. Every time I put food in his enclosure he never seems to find it? and I am up pretty late and I always check on him at night.
So, what I have been doing is feeding him myself, I have two flavors of repashy, and two flavors of pangea and I just ordered some more flavors of repashy. I heard of mixing honey with his food but I'm not sure that its going to help because hes dehydrated but I will try it tomorrow since its feeding day. Other than that he doesn't seem lethargic, and he stays active all night long. I know I'm rambling but I am very worried for my little guy. If you have any advice for me please reply!!!
